Spreading the

Word of God

Based in Beltsville, MD, Bright Light is dedicated to help the underprivileged children and women.

Outreach Programs for

the Less Fortunate

Bright Light in Beltsville, MD is a nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading the Word of God especially to those who need to hear it. These include children, women, and the elderly.

What We Do

Children Meal and Clothing Outreach

In Matthew 14:13-21, the Lord Jesus met with a multitude of people. He fed them first before teaching them about the Kingdom of Heaven. In Luke 18:16, Jesus called them unto Him and said, “Let the children come unto me and forbid them not for such is the Kingdom of God.”

The ministry shares Christ’s love by attending to the physical needs of the underprivileged. Through our Children Meal and Clothing Outreach program, we feed and clothe the disadvantaged children. We provide meals and occasional distribution of other nutritional food items. The ministry also distributes clothing to orphans.

Child Development and

Educational Support

We go beyond simple involvement in the lives of the children and families we serve. In some cases, we start with prenatal care and go all the way through developing leadership skills in qualified young adults.

All of our child development programs provide opportunities that encourage healthy development in four areas: academics, vocational skills, talents, and athletic abilities.

In a world where more than a billion children live on less than $2 per day, child sponsorship is the most strategic way to end child poverty. Child development is dynamic; it changes as a child’s needs change. It is personal, individualized, and relational. We adjust our program depending on the child’s age, gender, health, culture, and family situation.

Living Word of Hope

The foundation of all our programs is the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Matthew 28:19 says, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”

Bright Light has a mission compound in Liberia, where a central church is being constructed. In this edifice, we will train devoted evangelists and other preachers to spread the good news and to bring salvation to the hopeless while addressing their physical and psychosocial needs. Our goal is to save the souls of these people and help them live with Him in eternality.

Widows and Physically Challenged

Hope Support

One of the contributing factors to poverty in Africa is the lack of social security opportunities to fill the economic gaps experienced by disadvantaged people. In the most impoverished African countries, thousands of single mothers and widows have become victims of war or other situations that have left them a widow or caused them to remain single. Without their husband’s support, they do not have the means to establish a stable livelihood and are subjected to harsh economic conditions.

Bright Light Ministry believes that the love of Christ must be shared through compassion for all of God’s creations, especially to those who are losing their dignity due to poverty. The ministry reaches out to widows and physically challenged women to give them hope and create in them a sense of belonging. These people are unable to help themselves or their family.

In Timothy 5:5, it is said that, “She, who is truly a widow left alone, has set her hope on God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help.” Our Widows and Physically Challenged Hope Support program will provide small-scale economic empowerment in the form of agriculture and small businesses to support their livelihood.

Health and Well-Being Outreach

As we share Christ's Love, one key focus of our ministry is the health and well-being of God’s children. We envision a medical program that will establish a Health Care Center in Liberia. This will provide maternal and pediatric services because women and children are the most at risk in African society.

Child, maternal and infant mortality are still issues. Through our Health and Well-Being Outreach program, we will provide medical hope to the disadvantaged. We will also provide nutritional education and sanitation to ensure good health habits, reducing disease and poverty.

What Makes Us Distinct

Our Commitment to Christ

Jesus is the core of our ministry; His life and teachings shape our programs. These reflect the spiritual commitments of our staff and guide how we love people, respect communities, and cooperate with nations.

Our Commitment to Children

Child development is achieved through compassion. Each one receives the holistic care they deserve to realize their full, God-created potential in life. It is only through a careful blend of physical, social, economic, and spiritual care that a child can fully mature in every facet of life and transcend a legacy of poverty.

Our Commitment to You

We affirm these commitments to each person that sponsors a child through us.

Our Commitment to the Church

Bright Light collaborates with other churches for effective child development. We believe the strategic placement of local churches makes them best suited to address the holistic needs of the children in their communities. They are the only ones who can effectively deliver the Jesus-based teaching and whole-life care that children in poverty deserve.

Our Commitment to Child Protection

In support of Christ's mandate to care for and protect His little ones, we are committed to safeguarding children in our programs from all forms of abuse and exploitation.
